Description
The Streamliner is a different take on the traditional gathered-end hammock. While catenary curves have long been used in tarps and tents, they are rarely applied to hammocks.
The Streamliner takes the basic Tree Runner design and applies a catenary curve to the sides and a reverse catenary curve to the ends of the hammock. For many, the result is a unique hammock that reduces calf ridge while also minimizing the enclosed feeling created by excess fabric along the sides.
This is a more specialized design intended for the adventurous hanger looking to try something different and is better suited for sleeping than lounging.
Features
- Catenary-cut hammock design
- Sewn end channels
- Available in a variety of fabrics
- Optional ridgeline, suspension, and accessory upgrades
- Two-ended stuff sack included
Catenary Design
| End Curve | 3" deflection |
| Side Curve | 5" deflection on each side |
| Width Reduction | Approximately 10" narrower in the center than the full fabric width |
How the Streamliner Differs
Reduced Calf Ridge — The catenary curves at the ends help spread the fabric and reduce pressure beneath the lower legs.
Reduced Walled-In Feeling — The side curves remove excess fabric, creating a more open feel while lying in the hammock.
Different Sitting Experience — Because of the catenary-cut design, the edges become more taut under load than they do in a traditional gathered-end hammock. When used as a chair, the edges may press more firmly against the backs of your legs.
Optional Features
Zippered Shoulder Pouch — A 12" × 8" zippered pouch can be installed at either shoulder position to keep small essentials within easy reach.
Underquilt Hooks — Optional underquilt hooks (pack hooks) are positioned approximately 20" from each end unless otherwise specified.
Ridgeline — An optional adjustable ridgeline allows the amount of hammock sag to be fine-tuned.
Suspension — Suspension is not included unless selected.
Included
- Streamliner hammock
- Two-ended stuff sack sized to accommodate the hammock and suspension
Sizing
Streamliner length is measured along the center of the hammock rather than along the edges.
Notes
Fabric choice affects comfort, durability, weight capacity, and packed weight. Weight capacity depends on the specific fabric and layer configuration selected.
Because of the large number of available fabrics, varying widths, hammock lengths, and optional accessories, finished weights will vary significantly.
Any advertised or quoted weight should be considered an estimate and may vary due to normal material and manufacturing variations.
